 The Senate!

It’s easy to get distracted by Trump’s insanity because he really is dangerous, viral and nuts, but if losing RBG taught us anything, winning back the Senate is really important too.  So upon the request of some of you, I am recirculating a list of Senate races worth paying attention to. This time around, I’ve also included Mississippi’s Mike Espy  who stands a chance of taking down Cindy Hyde Smith, the charmer who still thinks that the Confederate flag is a good thing. If you’re so inclined, go to Actblue.com and give a little or a lot to some or all of them.  Mitch McConnell specifically complained this week about how all those contributions going through Actblue are causing him and his Republican crowd so much pain so they must really be helping.  Keep in mind that the more well known names are better funded than some of the others.

Possible Pick-ups

Alaska:                            Al Gross

Arizona:                          Mark Kelly*

Colorado:                        John Hickenlooper

Georgia:                          John Ossoff

Georgia:                          Raphael Warnock*

Iowa:                               Theresa Greenfield

Kansas:                            Barbara Bollier

Kentucky:                        Amy McGrath

Maine:                             Sara Gideon

Mississippi:                     Mike Espy

Montana:                        Steve Bullock

North Carolina:              Cal Cunningham

South Carolina:              Jaime Harrison

Texas:                             MJ Hegar

Playing Defense

Alabama:                        Doug Jones

Michigan:                       Gary Peters

*Both of these are “special” races.  If, as expected, Mark Kelly wins in Arizona he will be seated by the end of November, replacing Republican Martha McSally.  That would give the Democrats another valuable vote through year end, something that could be a game changer if the Amy Coney Barrett SCOTUS vote gets delayed.   Raphael Warnock’s Georgia race is more complicated.  If Warnock, who is currently polling ahead of his opponents, wins by less than 50%, he will face a run off against whoever comes in second place, in all likelihood that will be either outgoing Congressman Doug Collins or incumbent Kelly Loeffler.
