A War From Within 🤯😱🌻✡️😱🤯

Mental Decay:  The government closed last night but that’s not the worst thing that happened yesterday because the closure while bad pales in comparison to the divisive, insane speeches that Secretary of “War” Hegseth and the dear leader delivered to the more than 800 general and admirals who were flown in from around the world, DOGE and security be damned, to hear their inappropriate, coo coo, highly politicized diatribes. In addition to plugging his book, a preening Hegseth called for a return to the “warrior ethos” to fix decades of what he called the military’s decay.  He attacked wokeism, called admirals and generals fat, and ordered a return to the “highest male standards,” to strip away the “ideological garbage that has infected” the DOD.  By male standards, he means white male standards which besides being racist and sexist also ignores that modern militaries rely more on technology, pilots, and drones, than buff manly soldiers modeled on the GI Joe dolls that Hegseth grew up with and probably sees in his inebriated dreams. Going forward, he plans to require that every member of the military, regardless of rank, take twice yearly physical fitness tests that will include meeting height and weight requirements, presumably, another indication that he plans to continue weeding women out of “his” ranks. And maybe not just women, since he recently announced that the standards will no longer be age-graded, a swipe at those in the audience.  The dear leader who never served in the military because of his severe “bone spurs” and who often throws shade at the late Senator John McCain, the war hero who spent more than five years as a prisoner during the Viet Nam war, then told the assembled military leaders that the biggest threat facing the country was from within, from those dangerous, radical, Democratic led cities where he plans to send them to hone their fighting skills. The mango mad man also went off on his usual tangents, talking about the importance of being careful on stairs, bizarrely complimenting Obama for his step walking skills, lashing out at Biden and autopens, and once again reminding everyone there and in Oslo about why he should get a Nobel Peace Prize. To their credit, the generals and admirals mostly remained stony faced during both of the wildly inappropriate and insane speeches though it wouldn’t be a push to assume than one or more of them was thinking coup.  We’d better hope that they remember their oaths are to the Constitution rather than to the autocratic whims of the coo coo one because if they don’t, we’re toast and those future elections we’re relying on to save us from the growing disaster we’re facing won’t happen or more likely will involve massive levels of voter suppression and intimidation.   

The Closure:  Trump followed up on his on again, off again, on again Monday sit-down with Democratic leaders Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer by posting a racist AI generated deep fake video of the two Democratic leaders.  The video included a silent mustachioed Jeffries wearing a sombrero with Schumer uttering profanities in an obviously fake voice.  The video, which was so racist and despicable that many media outlets refused to air it, is further evidence that the dear leader could care less about the ramifications of shuttering government services as long as he can keep his tax cuts, get rid of windmills, and own the libs.  His party line, amplified by his House and Senate abettors is that despite Republican control of all the branches of government, the shutdown is the fault of the “radical” Democrats.  The Republican talking point is that it’s the Democrats insistence that the funding resolution include free health care for illegal “aliens” as well as for sex change operations that is driving the shutdown.  The “alien” point being driven home by Trump depicting Jeffries in a sombrero. The dear leader and his complicit cronies know that immigrants without legal status are not eligible to get federally funded health insurance but they’re hoping that most people don’t. Democrats want the Obamacare subsidies that are about to expire reinstated because if they’re not premiums will skyrocket leaving millions unable to afford health insurance, returning the country to the pre-Obamacare era which is essentially what Trump and many House and Senate Republicans want. Republicans, particularly those in vulnerable districts and in states where many rely on Obamacare for their insurance understand the problem, they’re just too intimidated by the dear leader to do anything about it, especially if doing something would mean voting against his approved funding resolution.  Anyway, like Iowa’s Joni Ernst said before she decided not to run for reelection, people die all the time so who cares if more of them die sooner.  Trump appears convinced that by making false claims about Democrats wanting “illegal” immigrants to get free health care and all those sex change operations he can convince his base that they’re better off without health care coverage.  He could be right because despite evidence to the contrary many of them still think that he’s gotten the price of groceries down and that they don’t need health care insurance, until of course they or someone in their family does. Besides, didn’t Trump promise that he’d release his way better health care plan in two weeks, along with his tax returns?     

Peeps 🧍🧍‍♀️:  Last night moments before the government closed, the White House quietly withdrew the nomination of EJ Antoni to serve as head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Antoni was supposed to replace the prior BLS head who’d been fired for releasing job statistics that the dear leader didn’t like. In addition to being woefully unqualified, Antoni had a history of posting sexually degrading attacks of Kamala Harris, derogatory remarks about gay people and conspiracy theories on Twitter. None of that was disqualifying to the White House but apparently it had grown increasingly apparent that Antoni didn’t have the support of enough Senators to be confirmed. Like New Jersey’s Alina Habba, Sigal Chattah, another one of Trump’s underqualified US Attorney’s has been sidelined by a judge. Chattah had been named interim US Attorney for Nevada in March but was never confirmed.  After her temporary appointment, which was not supposed to exceed 120 days, expired the DOJ shifted her to another job in an attempt to keep her in place. District Court Judge David Campbell ruled that the shift was a clear violation of the Federal Vacancies Reform Act, and in response to four lawsuits from defendants who argued that their cases should be dropped because of her “illegal” role, barred her from any involvement in their cases. So basically, another “interim” US Attorney who is barred from doing her job because she’s been illegally appointed by a Department of Justice and an administration that refuses to follow the law.   

Fog:  Trump released his 20-point Gaza peace plan which is “to make Gaza a deradicalized, terror-free zone by redeveloping the region for the benefit of the people” whatever that really means. The plan calls for the immediate end in fighting and for the 20 living Israeli hostages held by Hamas as well as the remains of the more than two dozen hostages who are believed to be dead to be exchanged for hundreds of detained Gazans within 72 hours of agreement on its terms. The plan also says Hamas will have no role in governing Gaza, leaving the door open for an eventual Palestinian state.  The plan has the backing of the Qataris, key because Qatar has funded and hosted Hamas for years, but as of my last check, though Israel has signed on, Hamas leadership, or what remains of Hamas leadership has not, though they say they’re thinking about it and will announce their decision shortly.  They also say that they’ve lost track of two of the hostages who are supposed to be released. 🤷‍♀️ 🤞
